Hey, first time poster here...I need a bit of help.
I've been playing guitar for 7 years and im into my eigth now, and i'm currently 15 years old.
I started off with a small acoustic, a cheap one (how expensive of a guitar does a primary school kid need right?)
and i got an electric in year 7, standard guitar pack with amp and cables and soft cover etc. Nothing expensive or flash.
And a year later i bought a Schecter Damien, Diamond series (red).
Although what i'm looking for now is a really nice acoustic guitar without spending too much.
My Schecter cost me $900 (400 off a 1,300 dollar guitar) and whilst its a great guitar and a good deal, i do regret spending that much.
So i'm looking for an acoustic guitar, thats no more than 400 or so.
I've been reccomended the Cort mr710f or something and whilst it seems like a nice guitar, its 500-600 and im not really willing to pay that much.
So can anybody recommend a good guitar? I'm looking for a quality guitar, easy to play, one that im able to at least play past the 12th fret, one that sounds good, one that can do the job and one that can adapt to various types of playing (strumming, finger picking etc.)
I also saw a 219 dollar Yamaha which i played and was nice sounding and was easy to play at Allens/Billy Hyde music.
My knowledge to guitar is very limited so help me out here!
Much appreciated,
Nick.
(Also, you might of heard of him but check out a kid called Sungha Jung, fantastic guitar covers, quality)
Not an expert myself but go with what feels comfortable. If the Yamaha is capable of what you want go for it, if not shop around, talk to the guys at the music shop, thats what there employed for. Ask them for there suggestions, what would they recommend.

Hey, can anyone come up with a few name suggestions for a hardcore/gabber dj? I'm looking for something with the same ring to it as ''Angerfist''. Just reply to this with some suggestions. All suggestions are appreciated, thanks. {Ed007's Note - A what DJ?? How about ScruLooz (screw loose).}
A hardcore / gabber dj ed. If you want to know what kind of music that is, look up Angerfist on Youtube. You might not like it though, maybe if you like metal music, but I doubt it. If you do look it up, listen to his track Perfect Fury, Depths Of Despair or Who Cares. There three of his best from his new album imo {Ed007's Note - I will have a look at them tomorrow. I'll listen to anything once.}
Can anyone else give a few suggestions? Please
So Ed007, did you listen to any of Angerfists music? What did ya think? {Ed007's Note - I did mate, it reminded me of raving my youth away back in the 80s/90s. Maybe I'm a bit too long in the tooth for it now but I can see why it appeals if you're smashed out your wig ;-)
DJ Gabbercore.
PS - Hardstyle is better... LOL

Any more suggestions??

1 question pop pickers, and 1 moan.
1. Ok moan first but whats with album packaging these days and all the stuff now turning up in those paper/ cardboard sleeve things? I personally don't like them, they can't stand up properly on the shelf and i have to wedge them between a couple of plastic cases. Guessing its some dodgy environmental thing.
2. Are their any Jazz fans around? I've always been a rock/ indie/ pop kind of man but now i'm branching out lol. Just wondering who you would suggest picking up to try and get in to Jazz, obviously i've heard of people like Louis Armstrong and Miles Davis (thanks to Tom Cruise for the last one) but is there any kind of essential or definitive album that i should get that could expand my tastes and get into it with? You know like a greatest hits of Jazz sort of compliation thing that could introduce me to other artists?

What a joy to see Gilbert O'Sullivan back in the album charts he is a great singer/songwriter who has been so under-rated I love his songs
Would I give us this seat I've been saving, to an elderly lady or man.

r the artics bringin out a new album soon eds? {Ed013's Note - They are currently touring their last album in America at the minute. However they did say they have enough materiel to release an album a year so maybe towards the end of the year we could see another album}
Good stuff just heard a track called r u mine ur thoughts sounds a bit like old artics nice {Ed013's Note - Great track and hopefully they will make a few more like the old stuff, but they are stubborn in their beliefs!}
If they do it won't be anywhere near as good as their first album, that was just great.
Favorite worst nightmare
No what ever people say I am that's what I'm not. Some of the song were just amazing like a certain romance and still take you home. Epic
Never cared much for them to be honest but am always after more stuff to fill shelf space.
Teddy Picker & fairytales of sanfransco are great tunes. Their old stuff was dynamite compared to their recent album. YNWA
A certain romance the last track on there first album was one of my favourites.

Just came across this page. Nice. My favourite band ever is Evanescence. Went a bit downhill when Ben Moody left but still rocking it! Love the emo,punk,dark stuff its crazy and the lyrics are killer!! Still think most of their best stuff is actually not on any albums tho. The new album of october 2011 is pretty good too cant wait for the next one!! As for the best band ever... Has to be Led Zep. Had a god of a guitarist we all know who he is haha..
PS i hope rap gets banned. What rubbish and how it gets classed as music is beyond me. Talking and bragging with a backtrack.
Capetownred {Ed001's Note - you need to understand more about what rap is before you start putting it down mate. It is simply lyrics delivered to a beat rather than a melody, which is singing. Talking does not follow beat or melody. As for bragging with a backtrack, it can be, but that is like saying ban singing because some of it is pop. Talk about a ridiculous and uninformed statement, ignorance is never good mate.}
Underground rap is more creative than any other type of music the beat isnt realy important its more the lyrics you can learn alot from underground the stuff you see on the tv isnt rap kayne isnt rap! Immortal technique could teach you whats happening around the world in 3 minutes and tell it like it is

it is a shame the music world has lost Whitney houston another talent wasted her music was so soothing and good to the ear, RIP.
hibsylfc
It's her own fault don't have any sympathy for her she did it all her self..
{Ed033's Note - You don't know that for sure because we don't know what really happened.}
^^^^ Completely agree with no name poster...... What really happened?? She blew 100million on crack, coke and alcohol throughout her career and were expected to feel sorry for her, I don't think so.... Waste of space.... HERBIE
You have to blame people liek Bobby brown who got on the stuff to be begin with, and then all the people around her, like the family and the entourage, what did they do?
What annoyed me was all these "celebs" coming out saying "o what a shame, what a tragedy, how awful, i'm so sorry" where were these people only a week ago before she died? How many actually knew her?
It is sad cos the girl could belt out a tune, wasn't always a fan and preferred her more poppy late 80's stuff courtesy of having an older sister. Its sad cos scum bags like Glitter are still around whereas girls like Whitney and Amy Winehouse who never did anyone any harm self destructed.

Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds 1 word.............................................AWESOME!!
BB1
I completely agree m8 the album is a masterpiece. was gutted when oasis split but if his 2nd album is as good then im happy. p.s the same cant be said for beady eye what a load of s**te that album was.........Chris
What was the name of te beady eye album not heard much of them nut from the song i have heard they are rank rotten ! Oasis were my all time favourite band had every album released and saw them 2 times was devistated when they split up. but Noel Gallaghers high flying birds are EPIC!!
YNWA...Rabbit93
The beady eye album is called different gear still speeding m8 and the only song thats half decent on it was the roller the rest was poor. and im with you bout oasis m8 pure genius hopefully one day a reunion but i doubt it now........Chris {Ed007's Note - AAwww don't...I still fill up thinking about Oasis breaking up. Some of their concerts were the best times of my life, even the very early T In The Park etc in 1994.}
Thanks a lot Chris mate will give the album a listen to but i doubt it will change my opinion of them very poor band. the only good thing IMO is they have Liam Gallagher as front man lol. and ed i am the same mate whenver i hear wonderwall my wee eyes fill up they were an amazing band and their songs werwe just genius.
YNWA...Rabbit93
Just shows who was the don in that band for sure.

10 Jan 2012 23:02:56
come on people you all know deep down that the greatest band ever was your own, your very own, abba. Seriously. Two of the greatest writers ever. Just listen to the genius.
Your either female or mad :-) ....
HERBIE
Herbie my friend Benny and Bjorn are 2 of the best song writers ever, up ther with John & Paul, Keith & Mick, Roger and Pete.
But there all so far behind Dylan, Cohen, Neil Young etc
Seriously you think McCartney & Lennon and Jagger & Richards are behind Neil Young?? Dylan wasn't that brilliant either you know, he had a lot of peaks yes but alos a lot of troughs. And Leonard Cohen, well thats just laugable.
I'd put Rick Danko and Ronney Robertson above Lennon. Aside from Sgt. Peppers and Revolver their song wrighting was inspired yet unimaginative. As for Roger and Pete they were cutting edge yet at times juvenile. Neil made music relevant to the every man rooted in the soil of the soul and thats what's important for a lyracist.
I had to google those last 2 roflmao
Lennon and McCartney for me are in a league of their own. Rubber Soul, Revolver, Sgt Pepper, White Album and Abbey Road all fantastic albums even Let It Be is a great album.
Billyboy1
I think it depends on musically or lyrically. Which is why most of those mentioned were partnerships.
Neil Young !! sorry cant agree with that, can not even be mentioned alongside Dylan, not impressed with peoples choices here, when there are writers the likes of , Waters, Page et al.

It's a funny old world
It's a funny old human race
Whats the group and song called??
HERBIE
Cannae believe no one got this....
Inspiral Carpets - Uniform.
HERBIE {Ed001's Note - they are a bit crap though ;o)}
What you on about Ed?? Thats a terrible to say, the Inspirals are legends man :-) . I remember reading festival in 1989 or 1990 they were amazing, 100,000 crowd rocking, dancing and singing at the top of there voices.... They blew our minds (maybe that was something else) but they were brilliant.... HERBIE {Ed001's Note - not my kind of thing, space cadets music.}

music is terrible in the modern day.... can only think of a few good bands, you have bands that come out and give a great 1st album then either disappear or have a shocking follow up, some that have a couple of great albums then decide to go into a different direction with their music-something only the beatles have ever perfected- and cock it up(arctic monkeys) and the rest of the tripe(non band/pop/dance/dub step etc) is shocking, i remember my childhood was being raised in the mid-late 80's/early 90's and pop music thrived, introduction of grunge and of course big at the time rock and metal. at this moment in time there is 2 maybe 3 bands of the current age i have on my ipod- the cribs, weezer, blink 182- the rest is 80's pop, 60's and 70's rock/pop/motown.
point of rant-why is the population so incredibly thickle to have been taken in by rubbish talentless music!!!
05 Jan 2012 22:14:04
Foo Fighters or Nirvana?
Personally I think its gotta be the Foo's ... Best band ever
Foo Fighters are v.good but Nirvana pips it, they revolutionised music at the time.... HERBIE
Foos are OK but too stilted. Nirvana forever!
Have to say I like the way Dave Grohl reinvented himself though. Who honestly thought he had what it takes to be a front man?
Nirvana embodied more than just a scene, they conveyed how most young people (grungers or not) felt at the time and did it with stunning beauty and in a heartfelt way.
Their music is also timeless and that's not easy to pull off.
Foos are just another modern rock band.
Pritpal
Pearl Jam are better than both IMO.
Foo is just pop disguised as rock IMO. Nirvana was good and as I get older I really miss them. During their hayday though I realy preferd Pearl Jam, Janes Addiction, Alice in Chains, and Blind Melon over them. I still think Blind Melon could've been some one of the greatest had Shannon Hoon lived.
Pixies are better than both

Anybody noticed that most of the best bands that have ever graced this planet with their music have at one point taken drugs?
The Beatles, The Doors, The Rolling Stones, Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash and Bob Dylan just to name a few.
By no means am i condoning the use of Drugs but without the drugs they took would they have been half as good as they were?
RedDevil92
The drugs make bad songs good.
Aslan,a band that f##ked up because of drugs,could hav had it all
Perhaps Hanson should have got wasted on heroin or crack.
Perhaps this is why SuBo was so popular.
Seriously though, drugs can only be a creative influence for a short peroid of time, after a while they take away your creativity. Trust me, I should know.
The Beatles didn't make great music because of drugs. They just had 2 of the greatest songwriters in modern history.
Sometimes they were influenced by drugs, sometimes by love & life, sometimes by jealousy & hatred!

Best [Hip-Hop] Songs of the Year
1. Otis- Jay-Z and Kanye West
2. Dance (A$$) - Big Sean [Both versions]
3. She Will - Lil Wayne (Feat. Drake)
4. Hopes and Dreams - Wiz Khalifa
5. Mr. Nice Watch - J. Cole
All them bar Kanye are cack artists. Lil Wayne looks and sounds like an aborted predator foetus.
Dar88
A$$ definitely shouldn't be there wheres nas or wiz that is the mainstream rap best hip hop songs of the year
When did Joe Cole release a record?
{Ed033's Note - Joe Cole set a record when he scored for Liverpool after just 25 seconds against Steaua Bucharest in their Europa League Group K opener. It was the quickest ever goal in the club's European history.
NONE of those "artists" are hip hop,their all commercial pop rubbish,listen to real hip hop,edan,public enemy etc, most hip hop today sucks! as your list proves.
17 Dec 2011 00:59:20
music these days isn't bad its just not strong enough to compete with other eras artists/producers have just become lazy i wonder when was the last time a artist actually played a guitar in a studio or had a band behind them playing instead of having it all computer generated plus very few artists have soul and meaning in there songs and they are just acting as puppets for there commercial sake 3 "mainstream" artists that i think are NOT like this are adele,ed sheeren,wiz khalifa i think are the most real artists on the "charts". then the few bands that are there coldplay etc....
Don't despair, it goes in cycles.
Most of todays music is garbage, I'll give you that (Lady Gaga?? how can she call herself an artist?)
But I'm sure that another good cycle will come around before too long. Just have to put up with this purile dross until then.
Stay strong music lover.

dont you just hate it when the day your fav band tickets go on sale they sell out straight away and see them on ebay an hour later.........
hate these scumbags who have no intention whatsoever of going to the gig yet they will stop music lovers from having a good time
Yes totally agree with that. And they try and flog them for twice what they paid knowing that someone will be desperate to go and will pay it.
Its bloody profiteering and disgusting at a time of financial hurt.
That is illegal to do that though isnt it? I know it happens just thought it was illegal.
Unless your a ticket agent that buys them from the venue then cranks up the price in which case it's ok lol
